Sender identity is checked with SPF records, DKIM signatures and DMARC policy, which stops forged mail that imitates your domain.
App, webmail and IMAP/SMTP traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS. The app never allows an unencrypted connection, and the webmail runs with HSTS and a strict content security policy (CSP).
Signing in to the app or webmail asks for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app (TOTP). A used code is never accepted again, and repeated wrong codes stop the sign-in.
Each failed sign-in doubles the waiting time and attempts per IP are limited. Session tokens rotate on every refresh, so a stolen old token is useless.
Session tokens, queued messages and 2FA keys are encrypted on the server with AES-256-GCM. On the phone the session token lives in the Keychain/Keystore; your password is never stored on the device.
Face ID / fingerprint lock. Mail opens as sanitised HTML with JavaScript off, every link shows its real address, and remote images and tracking pixels load by default only from known senders.
