SPF Lookup
Check a domain's SPF record to verify your e-mail security.
With the SPF lookup tool you can instantly check any domain's SPF (Sender Policy Framework) record. SPF is a DNS record that lists the servers allowed to send email on behalf of your domain. A correctly configured SPF record keeps your messages out of spam folders and helps protect against phishing.
SPF alone is not enough: check your messages' signature with the DKIM lookup and the policy you publish to receiving servers with the DMARC lookup. You can confirm that incoming mail reaches the right server with the MX lookup, and for email sent from your applications and servers, have a look at our SMTP Gateway service.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions about SPF records and email security.
What is an SPF record?
SPF (Sender Policy Framework) is a DNS TXT record that lists the servers allowed to send email on behalf of your domain. The receiving mail server checks the SPF record to see whether an incoming message came from an authorised server.
Why do I need an SPF record?
An SPF record protects your email against forged (spoofed) sending. Without SPF, any server can send email in your domain's name, which leads to phishing attacks and spam problems.
How do I create an SPF record?
An SPF record is added as a TXT record in your DNS management panel. Example: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all. This record authorises Google's servers, and the ~all at the end asks receivers to treat mail from servers that are not listed as suspicious (softfail). A domain should have only one SPF record.
What happens if my SPF record is wrong?
A wrong or missing SPF record can send your messages to the recipient's spam folder or get them rejected entirely. Use this tool to check your SPF record.
What is the difference between SPF, DKIM and DMARC?
SPF lists the authorised servers, DKIM verifies the message with a digital signature, and DMARC is the policy that tells the receiver what to do based on the SPF and DKIM results. Used together, they give the strongest email security.
How can I change my SPF record?
You can edit your SPF record in your domain's DNS management panel. If you are a SunucuPARK customer, you can have it updated by opening a support ticket.
What is the 10 DNS lookup limit in SPF?
The SPF standard allows at most 10 DNS lookups (for mechanisms such as include, a and mx) while a record is evaluated. If the limit is exceeded, the record is treated as invalid (permerror) and the check fails. If you use many email services, remove the includes you no longer need.
